Seventeen-year-old Kurtis Lammer Raises $40,865 for the Hospital

Kurtis demonstrated a great deal of tenacity while imagining and then creating UNIT 6 Haunted House.

Unit 6 Haunted House was in the making for over two years. Kurtis was originally planning to have it ready in time for the 2015 Halloween season, but ran out of time due to the demands of school.

He kept his mind set on making his vision a reality and in October 2016, he opened the doors to his Zombie Containment Centre.

Over three weekends, more than two-thousand people came out to be frightfully entertained.

While speaking with Kurtis, he remarked

“I never expected it to get this big, but the response from the community has been amazing.”

But what is truly amazing is that Kurtis donated every dollar of the ticket proceeds to the Hospital – $40,865!

On the date of the cheque presentation, Thursday November 10, 2016, this set a new record for the most funds raised for the Hospital by a single third-party event.

Kurtis gave much credit to his very large crew of dedicated volunteers including zombie actors, make-up artists and ticket sellers. He also credited his sponsors, Balnar Management Ltd., Intrigue Media, Meridian Credit Union, and VanHarten Surveying Inc.

The team at FGGH also extends a sincere thank you to everyone involved in making this event such a tremendous success.

Donors help fund every piece of patient care equipment at Guelph General Hospital.
